Wallace Stevens lived from 1879 to 1955. He is one of the US’s greatest poets. I found this on Poems on the Underground!
"And they said then, ‘But play you must,
A tone beyond us, yet ourselves,
A tune upon the blue guitar
Of things exactly as they are.’ "
I spend my life trying to get people beyond the obvious and the day to day which is no more than a reference to where everything belongs now.
