McKinsey’s have produced a great video interview with the recently retired CEO of Royal Dutch Shell. Not only is the content excellent, but their presentation is an object lesson in how you break up a 20 minute interview into sections that are all accessible instantly, and play out the sections with key quotes on the screen, and if that is not enough there is a transcript as well.
Thoughtful, articulate stuff. Sections are: future of oil, the downturn, leadership, business in society, the big picture, and management lessons.
What did I learn: “some of the things I do now, I do not for my successor, but my successor’s successor”. The importance of a long term perspective whilst dealing with the short term.
