Bersin and Associates have just published the 2007 Corporate Learning Factbook. You can read a summary here.
Amongst the information collected are some very useful metrics on average spend per learner, up to $1,273 across all industries but running from $2,763 per learner in the technology sectors to as low as $519 per learner in the retail sector. Use of virtual classroom technology has shot up to 60% of respondents, whilst 40% have an LMS of some sort.
There is still some way to go as the learning and development world emerges blinking into a new technology future but it is definitely headed steadily in that direction, fuelled by an increase in overall spending of over 7%.
