Think Like a Designer

Here is a simple 10 tips post to help you judge your own work as a designer would. The checklist is a blog posting by Garr Reynolds from his Presentation Zen site and he actually gives us 11 tips (a bonus one at the end!).The checklist is great for any kind of creative input. My favourite tip is no 2: Practice Restraint ‘Any fool can be complicated and add more’ BUT ‘it takes discipline of mind and strength of will to make the hard choices about what to include and what to exclude.’

Garr gives a superb talk on ‘Presentation Skills’ to Google staff in one of their author presentation seminars.  It is on YouTube and worth the hour’s investment.

Thanks to Stephen Downes who alerted me to it.
