The Mash-Up Begins

Viv magazine has published a mock-up of magazine on the new iPad.  It is a combination of static paper information and video integrated in a brilliant way.  You can see immediately how this may develop into a new form:  neither book nor video but a dramatic combination of the two. See for yourself if you think that this is just the beginning of an exploitation of the iPad’s technical abilitities.

  1. This is a great example of how the iPad is revolutionizing traditional media. This immediately got me thinking about how we can apply these same mash-up concepts to traditional instructor-led materials like study guides, manuals and presentations. Training departments are making a mad rush to convert these materials to e-learning, but the iPad and other tablets give us another opportunity to dramatically change the way learners read, study and now, interact with these materials in an ILT environment. Think not only video, but integrated links, note taking, sharing, filtering, etc. This is game-changer for blended learning.

  2. I totally agree Dawn. thanks for the comment. It is so obvious that when you have a device that is agnostic about where it gets its information to display and what form that information is in, those are the qualities we should exploit. I think it will become an individualised learning device as well as one for corporate learning. Or maybe those two things will themselves merge.
