Days By Philip Larkin

This is quoted in David Lodge’s new novel: Deaf Sentence and to me in an email by my friend Urszula:

What are days for?
Days are where we live.
They come, they wake us
Time and time over.
They are to be happy in:
Where can we live but days?

  1. This is sweet, where indeed but in days we live! And one day just stop being. Just go away, where, no one knows. How? No one knows. Just looking at the various forms of living I am always questioning life. Yesterday, saw hunger, desperation in a sqatters’ home. I keep comparing and am perpetually amazed, amused how life can be so different. The days we live in, cruel, happy, silent or hungry. Nice post just brought in thoughts from yesterday.
