Pattie Maes at TED

Pattie presented MIT's new 6th sense device at TED and received a standing ovation.  What!!!!

Remember MIT's wearable computers?  All a bit silly and unreaslistic.  Now Pattie's group have developed a combined, camera, projector phone device that engages with the user and supplements his or her knowledge. And because it includes a projector, you can use any surface.  Your wrist becomes a watch, your hand a calculator and if you want more information on a book, then the blank page becomes a screen. See for yourself on this YouTube video. It is remarkable.

The 6th Sense device was a winner in the amateur inventers competition run by Popular Science Magazine. Fast Company covers all ten winners and they are all interesting.
